Specialized Seminar in Education, Society and Development
Objectives
a) Acquisition of skills for systematic understanding of the issues and problems of Education Sciences,
namely their relations with Social, Economic and Political Development;
b) Deepening relations between the Economic and Educational spheres
c) Deepening relations between the political and educational spheres
d) The acquisition of the capacity to critically analyse, evaluate and synthesize new and complex ideas
related to the area of Educational Sciences, namely the relation between Education Sciences and
Social, Economic and Political Development;
e) Acquisition of skills in the field of Research in Education that allow the accomplishment of research
works that merit national and international dissemination
f) Acquisition of communication skills with peers, academic community and society in general on issues
related to Contemporary Forms of Education and their relations with Social, Economic and Political
Development;

Evaluation method
The assessment includes an oral presentation (20%), a written paper (60%) and class participation (20%).

f) The influence of changes in political, economic and educational modes of regulation in the current
forms of schooling
g) The Portuguese case in a comparative perspective: Demography, Economy, Political Legitimation,
Education and their relations in the XIX and XX centuries.
