Medieval History (12th-15th Century) - 1st semester

Objectives

a) To acquire scientifc information on the historiography and on the main trends of present research concerning the epoch
b) To develop the skill of understanding the main facts and processes of the time and space studied
c) To develop methodologies of analysis of historical sources
d) To develop capacities of oral and written expression, managing the vocabular and the specific analytical categories for the study of medieval Europe
e) To develop a critical and reflexive attitude

Teaching method

- Lectures (50%) and practical classes with continuous classroom assessment (50%).
In class teaching

Evaluation method

Elaboration of 2 practical tests in the classroom: commentary of a historiographical text and of a historical source (40% and 60%, respectively).
Attendance to practical classes is required for the full-time students; absence will lead to a penalization of 5% to 10% in the final individual mark.
