Contemporary French Literature - 2nd semester


1. Read and understand texts of French Contemporary Literature in relevant aspects;
2. recognize the historic and cultural contexts of the texts in the syllabus;
3. understand the writing process specific of the texts in the syllabus;
4. become familiar with relevant theoretic issues in contemporary french literature and their contexts;
5. become skilled in the analysis of sellected works of this period;
6. be able to produce critical arguments about relevant issues in french contemporary literature;
7. be able to organize a research paper under tutorial supervision about a topic of the syllabus.

Teaching method

1. Lectures on the main items on the syllabus focusing on cultural and literary aspects of the texts in the syllabus and other works focusing specifically on literary analysis but also considering literary, artistic, cultural and theory contexts; regular use of appropriate web resources shall be encouraged and the Moddle platform will be a used as a main tool for individual and collective work;
2. Critical discussion in the classroom of the texts in the syllabus, as well as analysis of literary texts;
3. Individual tutorial supervision of oral and written work.

Evaluation method

Information retained, competences of critical and conceptual texts analysis as well as individual work produced will be taken into account.
1. Classroom discussions of topics in the syllabus - 20%;
2. one written classroom assignment - 40%;
3. written essay to be discussed in class - 40%.
