Objectives
a) Knowledge and understanding of sociological reflection frameworks about cities and metropolises; b) Ability to analyze historical and contemporary urbanization processes, relating them to the transformation of social structures and practices, the use and forms of occupation and reconversion of the territories; c) Ability to communicate sociological knowledge on the subject in a rigorous and meaningful way; d) Capacity for informed and critical intervention in monitoring territorial policies and programmes.

Teaching method
Theoretical and practical classes (100%). All classes are based on: 1. the exposition by the lecturer of the contents, including, the course theoretical-expostive component, and 2. Students´ presentation and discussion of an article by the students, contributing to the crouse´s practical component and problematization skills.
Evaluation method
Evaluation Method: one essay on one of the program points (70%); presentation of a scientific paper in class (30%).
