Teaching method

Theoretical subjects are presented and explained to students in lectures (1h / week).

 Practical lectures, 2.5h/week in a working group.

It will be involved: GC, HPLC (LC-UV, LC-DAD), sample preparation methods (including classic methods, SPE and SPME). Introduction to multidimensional methods (GC-MS, LC-MS/MS)

Evaluation method

1.Theoretical evaluation:

  • 2 theory tests (individual): 25% each

2.Practical evaluation:

  • 1 Report (article format) + Presentation (group): 25%
  • 1 Paper presentation in Note format (group): 25%

In case of a negative weighted average final evaluation (less then 9.5 in 20), the grade corresponding to the theoretical component will have to be obtained by examination that in this case will be worth 50% of the final grade of the UC.

The frequency discipline is mandatory. Derives 70% attendance in lectures and attendance at all practical classe.


Subject matter

Instrumentation: HPLC, GC, GC/MS and LC-MS/MS - basic components and how to use.

Sample preparation: SPE, SPME, liquid extraction, lyophilization, dryness and derivatization.

Analytical method validation.
