Epidemiological Surveillance and Risk Management
Objectives
At the end of the course the students should be able to:
• Identify, analyze and understand the different concepts of "risk" in epidemiological perspective and at systemic approach to the concept of risk;
• Analyze the evolution of the notion of risk (s) applied to chronic and infectious diseases;
• Understand the concept of epidemiological surveillance and its application in risk management;
• Identify and implement monitoring activities to contribute to the control of chronic diseases and infectious diseases;
• Identify, according to the National Health Plan, the priority areas of epidemiological application in surveillance programs;
• Know the strategies and epidemiological instruments for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, based on European systems and epidemiological surveillance networks;
• Acquire a deepen knowledge of Containment and Emergency Plans in emerging situations of biological risks in Public Health;
• Know and characterize the main sources of national and international information relevant to the practice of epidemiological surveillance and the management of information and knowledge of the health problems;
• Know the structure and activities of the major National and International Organization (DGS, INSA, ECDC, CDC, WHO) responsible for surveillance;
• To apply at national, EU and international law relevant to the epidemiological surveillance and risk management.
