Research Methodologies on Energy and Bioenergy

Objectives

The curricular unit objective is to provide the students’ opportunity to be updating with the scientific literature, to known the formats of funds sources and scientific dissemination, to select a research subject and to formulate research strategies. Still it allows to work in autonomy and in multidisciplinary work teams and to be aware of the professional, social and ethics responsibility in a global market´s framework.

Teaching method

The learning methodologies include sessions with an oral subject`s presentation followed by a discussion and critical analysis, with the students` proactive participation. The students develop individual works for the application of the different research`s methodologies which is supervised by the teacher.

Evaluation method

The assessment is constituted by the elaboration, presentation and discussion of a proposal`s preparation work for a research project. The curricular unit approval requires a minimum classification of 9.5 values (out of 20 values).

Subject matter

1. Definition of the objective of research. Scientific research and revision. Data-bases. To propose hypothesis. Research strategies. Sampling, models, validation of methodologies, statistics. Chronograph.

2. Organization, writing and presentation of scientific work. Formats of dissemination of the scientific diffusion.

3. Formats of funding for the scientific projects, institutional public and private, national and european,  by companies and others.

4. Impact of the scientific activity on the cultural, social and economic promotion and development of  the society. Importance of the social and ethics values associated to the scientific and technologie production.
