Cultural Heritage Management

Objectives

This course aims at:

a) Providing the students with the knowledge appropriate for the management of heritage resources;

b) Presenting the fundamental concepts, their historical evolution and main theoretical and practical contributions related to cultural heritage and museology;

c) Presenting different approaches and solutions related to the appreciation , fruition and promotion of heritage testimonies;

d) Developing competences and critical thinking about the complexity and multiplicity of national and international heritage and museums reality.

Evaluation method

Evaluation elements:

Test (Theoretical-Practical Evaluation); Pitch (Seminar Evaluation); Project: written work  + presentation (Seminar Evaluation)

Final grade = 0.4 x Test + 0.1 Pitch + 0.5 x Project

1) Approval requires a minimum grade of 9.5 for each evaluation component (theoretical-practical and seminar).

2) Access to the exam depends on obtaining frequency for which it is necessary to successfully complete the Seminar.

3) The frequency is valid for 5 years.

4) In any evaluation moment, students must also take into consideration the provisions of nº3 of article 10º of the ''Evaluation Rules of FCT NOVA'', “When fraud or plagiarism is proven in any of the evaluation elements of a UC, students directly involved are outright disapproved at UC (…).
