Economic Analysis of Law

Objectives

Students are expected to deploy the basic tools of microeconomics in order to assess the impact of legal normas and critically evaluate how these norms fare against an efficiency benchmark.

Teaching method

Lectures combined with the discussion of 'classical' texts of Law and Economics (L&E), as well as current topics analyses through the perspective of L&E

Evaluation method

Assessment will be based either on the grade obtained in the final written exam (100%) or on the grade average of the final written exam (70%) combined with the presentation and discussion of a 'classical' text of L&E (30%).

Subject matter

The syllabus covers some core legal areas, that will presented, assessed and critically evaluated from a microeconomic perspective.
