Subject matter

The syllabus's first topic focuses on conflict dynamics (Glasl's model of conflict escalation) and on the main approaches to conflict resolution (power, rights and interests).

The second topic addresses two different negotiation styles - positional bargaining and the problem-solving approach - with a special focus on the latter.

Topics three and four deal exclusively with mediation. Their aim is to describe the legal framework of mediation in Portugal, as well as to introduce students to the mediaton process and techniques.
