Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization
Objectives
The goal of this course is to introduce students to principles and methods of geographic information systems (GIS). Throughout the course, students will get acquainted with geographic information tools and techniques which are available for applications in research, industry and government. The practical component of the course is based on ESRI software although the use of other tools is also encouraged.

Teaching method
The curricular unit is based on theoretical lectures and practical application of methods using software applications, such as ArcGIS. A variety of instructional strategies will be applied, including lectures, slideshow demonstrations, step-by-step tutorials on using the tools and techniques in the ArcGIS software, questions and answers. The practical component is geared towards solving problems and exercises, including discussion and interpretation of results.
