Clinical Pathology Cases Writing

Objectives

This curriculum unit aims to provide / improve the skills of communication through the practice
of writing a case-report.
The specific learning outcomes are: • To know the types of medical communications • To
know the ethical rules and the types of plagiarism • To develop research skills and research
of relevant literature • To interpret the clinical process and diagnostic procedures • To describe
a case report • To discuss a clinical pathology case • To structure and present a case
as a written form of communication • To use the mechanisms and processes of scientific article
submission using a case report as an example.

Teaching method

This course, through a concrete practical exercise, aims to stimulate the Scientific and critical
thinking of students and train the application of concepts and knowledge about biomedical
problems; in the writing of original scientific articles. Students assessment will be by continuous
evaluation and by discussion of the final text to be present to a journal as a case report.

Subject matter

Basic elements of theoretical and practical knowledge to prepare a scientific paper (for submission
to a medical journal for publication) and ethical and deontological rules of medical
practice applied in writing scientific papers. Teaching how to write a scientific paper.
