Postgraduate Course in the Arts of Writing
Education objectives
The course aims to deepen professional scientific training in Arts of Writing. In their training, students should:
1 - Acquire knowledge and writing techniques at a level that constitute a basis for original developments and or applications, preferably in the various contexts of literary creation;
2 - Acquire the ability to apply this knowledge and writing techniques in new and unfamiliar situations, in broad and multidisciplinary contexts, even when related to their area of work and study;
3 - Acquire the ability to integrate new knowledge and new techniques, cope with complex issues, develop solutions or evaluations about works similar to those they produce;
4 - Acquire the ability to communicate their conclusions and the knowledge and reasoning underlying them, either to specialists or non-specialists, in a clear and unambiguous way;
5 - Acquire the necessary means and skills to learn throughout their lives, in a fundamentally self-oriented and autonomous way.

Total credits: 60 ECTS (Credits from restricted options and credits from free options).
(1 ECTS - European Credit Transfer System = a 28-hour workload).
Conditions of admittance
Application and access conditions to the cycle of studies reflect the conditions established in the national legislation, namely: - To hold a degree (1st cycle), or legal equivalent; - To hold a foreign academic degree recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH; - To hold an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae, recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH. Applicants will be selected and ranked according to the criteria annually defined in the application edict.
Evaluation rules
Assessment follows the host institution regulations. Each course unit describes the assessment methods in detail. 1) Mandatory precedence is not required for attending graduate courses. 2) Knowledge assessment is individual and will be carried out at the end of the academic semesters. Final essays and/or oral tests, works or other elements of assessment carried out by students within the different curricular units will be considered under conditions to be defined by the respective teachers. The evaluation result will be expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 points. 3) It is considered approved in a curricular unit the student who obtains the final classification of 10 or more points.
