Teaching method
The seminar will have as a continuity system face-to-face sessions and
students autonomous work. The face-to-face classes will be of a theoretical-
practical nature, alternating moments of theoretical exposition of the themes,
concepts, vocabulary and methods specific to the area and collection and
inventory practices with the analysis and commentary of texts presented by the
students.
Evaluation method
Método de Avaliação - oral participation in all sessions(20%), two interventions by the student(30%), written elaboration of a synthesis work(50%)
Subject matter
Intangible Cultural Heritage (PCI). The Charter of the Intangible Cultural
Heritage of Paris (17 October 2003) from UNESCO. What is meant by
immaterial? The relations and implications of the immaterial in the other types of
Heritage. Intangible Cultural Heritage (PCI) in Portugal, legislation and
inventory. Collection practices. The Portuguese intangible cultural heritage
classified by UNESCO: fado, sing, rattles, falconry, black pottery, figurines and
Mediterranean diet.
