Scientific Translation (German)

Objectives

1) To exercise the components of translational competence.
2) To apply a methodology of translation to this text type: translationally relevant text analysis, research in reliable resources (parallel texts), terminology management, and translation procedures.
3) To carry out adequate translations of scientific texts of different domains, both technically and stylistically.

Teaching method

The postgraduate seminars are both theoretical and practical with a strong interactive component on the part of the postgraduate students. 

Evaluation method

Evaluation Methodologies - commented translations of scientific texts and justified translational options(30%), exercises based on the application of key concepts on scientific texts, after explanation in class(30%), production of final individual piece of work based on a commented translation of a scientific text of average difficulty(40%)
