Education objectives
This course aims to contribute to the sustained improvement of the processes of design and implementation of Science and Technology policies.
PGCT is targeted for research managers, professionals, researchers or students, preparing them for:
• The management of organizations, infrastructures, programs and projects;
• Handle applications and manage fundraising strategies;
• The management of EU and national funds;
• Prepare institutions for the next European framework programs;
• Enhance research results and manage knowledge transfer processes;
• Promote and manage scientific culture programs.

Degree pre-requisites
Total credits: 60 ECTS (10 credits based in the compulsory curricular units and 50 credits to be chosen in a set of elective optionals).
(1 ECTS - European Credit Transfer System = a 28-hour workload).
The NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), through the protocol established with the Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Research and Development (INESC-ID), the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S), the Institute of New Technologies (INOV) and the o Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology António Xavier (ITQB NOVA), ensures the normal operation of the postgraduate course in Science and Technology Management and Policy.
Conditions of admittance
The entry requirements consider the conditions laid down in national legislation, namely: a) Possessing a degree (1st cycle), or legal equivalent; B) Holders of a foreign academic degree that is recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH; c) Hold an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH.
Evaluation rules
The evaluation regulation adopted is that in use at the host institution. Each course unit describes evaluation methods in detail. 1) Mandatory precedence is not required for attending postgraduate courses. 2) The knowledge assessment is individual and will take place at the end of the academic semesters. In the assessment of knowledge, final written and / or oral tests, works or other elements of assessment carried out by students within the different curricular units will be considered under conditions to be defined by the respective teachers. The evaluation result will be expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 values. 3) It is considered approved in a curricular unit the student who obtains a final classification equal to or higher than 10 values.
