Research Seminar IV
Objectives
The UC is linked to the research seminars from previous semesters, giving it continuity. We would lie to want to create a space for debate, reflection and scientific-pedagogical to support the development of advanced research work of the doctoral program students.
More particularly, the curricular unit is organized in intensive seminars PhD-students centered and aims to enhance advanced competences in the field of reflective, analytical and methodological components and steps in relation with each individual research processes of the PhD-students.
In specific terms, the competences to be acquired are:
- understanding of the applicability of sociological theories and methods for advanced doctoral project development;
- enhanced capacity for critical analysis on the development of an individual project leading to doctoral thesis;
- consolidation of original ideas for advanced research for a doctorate in sociology.

Teaching method
Curricular unit to be taught by intensive seminars sessions, classroom-based, and may eventually be used distance sessions, through e-learning platform or video conferencing in partner institutions of the consortium.
Tutorials sessions and autonomous study.
Evaluation method
Evaluation Methodologies - Presentation of at least 1. a text of critical reflection, a progress report, a scientific article or a chapter of the dissertation in progress; 2. one report of a participation, production and scientific communication activity; 3. Preparation, presentation and public discussion of the state of thesis project development; 4. Participation in seminar sessions(100%)
Subject matter
This is a curricular unit focused on framing and evaluation of doctoral student autonomous work, in particular at the level of presentation (oral and written) and public discussion of materials related with their individual research project development. While there is no rigid curriculum content, seminar sessions mainly focus on the following topics:
1: Dilemmas of Advanced Research in Sociology
2: Activities of scientific production;
3: Activities of public communication.
