Railroad Rehabilitation Techniques
Objectives
• It is intended that trainees acquire knowledge that will allow them to identify geotechnical problems and select appropriate ways to carry out the rehabilitation of the railway, considering its characteristics and the respective life cycle cost, in the face of anomalies identified in these infrastructures and new operating requirements.

Teaching method
In this discipline the classes are essentially expository, using slides, some of which present aspects of real situations that aim to illustrate the importance of the subjects taught, namely related to the characteristics of the materials, dysfunctions and rehabilitation techniques of the railway.
Evaluation method
The evaluation of the discipline is carried out through a final exam.
Subject matter
• Analysis of the behaviour of the railway in view of the requests to which it is subject.
• Performance evaluation and geotechnical characterization of the railway in operation.
• Methods and techniques for the maintenance and rehabilitation of the railway.
• Evaluation and selection of materials to be applied in the railway rehabilitation works.
• Quality control of railway rehabilitation works.
• Design criteria for railway rehabilitation.
• Characterization of geological and geotechnical conditions in the rehabilitation of railway infrastructure.
• Stability of excavation slopes in soils.
