Electrical and Computers Project Management

Objectives

The course will fundamentally address the main areas of activity of an electrotechnical engineer, with special emphasis on software and hardware management. However, all project management activity will be studied allowing students to participate in the management of professional business project by acquiring clear notions of strategy and business structure, communication in project teams and collaboration tools, project life cycle, software management systems, asset management systems, cost accounting tools and activities and customer relationship management tools.

Teaching method

Teaching will have two main components: the theoretical (T) classes where the basic concepts will be presented and the practical (PL) classes where students will have contact with project management tools. T classes will be used for the exposition of the concepts always illustrated with practical problems that the students solve conceptually during the sessions. In the PL classes several project management tools will be presented together with concrete problems
that the students, organized in groups of three, should solve.

Evaluation method

The evaluation will have two components: T and PL. The T evaluation will be based on two tests (one in the middle of the academic period and the other at the end) or a theoretical examination.
The PL evaluation will be based on a project developed by the students in groups of three during the PL classes and complemented with activity outside the PL classes. This project will be presented to the classmates and discussed with the teacher(s).
