Biomedical Engineering

Education objectives

Professionals in this area must have scientific and technological bases to innovate and optimize methodologies and equipment, while taking them with knowledge that facilitate dialogue with doctors.

Fulfilling the objectives of the 3rd cycle to ensure training leading to innovation capabilities conceptual or instrumental, critical analysis and evaluation, promotion of technological progress, skills that result from specialization and systematic understanding of a sub-area scientific-technological and purchasing skills and methods of research, this doctoral program aims at training specialists with strong innovation capabilities and to promote technological progress in the following sub-areas of Biomedical Engineering:

  • Imaging (MRI)

  • Medical diagnostic techniques using optical characterization

  • Biomechanics

  • Hemodynamics

  • Tissue Engineering (surrogate skin)

  • Interaction of radiation with biological material (dosimetry, effects on biological molecules)

  • Bionanotechnology

  • Atomic and nuclear techniques for elemental characterization of biological samples

Employability

Ensuring the training of specialists with strong innovation capabilities and to promote technological progress in the field of Biomedical Engineering, this doctoral program has the professional opportunities and careers in university teaching / research, the hospital career of physical and technical posts top hospitals and clinics and development companies, particularly in sub-areas listed in the objectives. Among the capabilities with which to equip the candidates listed critical thinking, conceptual autonomy and entrepreneurship, aimed at creating new businesses.
