Postgraduate Program in Statistical Systems with a specialization in Central Banks
Education objectives
The postgraduate program in Statistical Systems, with a specialization in Central Banks’ Statistics, was developed in close collaboration with Banco de Portugal, in order to provide managers and technical sta that work in central banks statistics, either as producers, as analysts or users of statistical information, the fundamental knowledge and skills to the development of their activity.
This program, accredited by European Statistical System with the EMOS (European Master of Official Statistics) seal, places special emphasis on the collection and compilation of monetary, nancial, foreign exchange, and balance of payments statistics, including those arising directly from the participation of Banco de Portugal in the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).

The programme is addressed to all those interested in central banks' statistics, particularly employees in statistical departments of banks and other nancial institutions, as well
as in national statistical oces and other statistical authoritites.
The program trains technical staff and managers to:
- Develop techniques and methodologies of data collection;
- Master the tools and processes used for the storage, organization, and access to information in an entity responsible for the production of statistics of central banks;
- Apply the statistical and computational methodologies and tools of exploration and analysis of information, to produce official statistics that can add value to decision making;
- Communicate results in written form or orally, adapting them to the level and specific interests of the audience.

To complete the application, the applicant must register in NOVA IMS' Applications Portal, fill the form, upload their Curriculum Vitae, pay the application fee (€ 51), and submit the application in the end from July 27th to August 17th 2021. The selection process is based on the analysis of the applicant's academic and professional curriculum.

The postgraduate program gives access to the master degree program in Statistics and Information Management, with a specialization in Information Analysis and Management, upon the development and presentation of a scholarly thesis, or work project or undertake an internship (subject of a final report) and the approval of the course unit Research Methodologies.

The program offers 20 elective course units, which correspond to 114,5 ECTS. To earn the postgraduate program diploma, students must complete 60 ECTS. Students can enroll up to 75 ECTS.
