Digital Transformation

Objectives

Digital transformation (DT) course will provide students the overview of the main drivers that lead companies to competitiveness in XXI century. DT is a continuous complex undertaking process which shapes a organizations and its operations towards digital business strategies. DT has a cross-functional character and need to be aligned with other functional and operational strategies. This course will present the main scientific DT drivers and how they can be interconected to con tribute to competitiveness of organizational businesses.

Teaching method

This course will be leaded by theoretical and practical sessions, associated with case study analysis, gamified quizes and a group developed project.

Evaluation method

Regular examination period (1st Call)

a) Case study group work (20%)

b) Applied digital transformation group work (30%)

c) Exam (on-line platform) (50%)

 

Resit examination period (2nd call)

a) Scientific essay (Group/ Individual) (50%)

b) Exam (on-line platform) (50%)

 

Notes:

- All the deliverables (case study and applied work group) must be submitted within the stated deliverable dates.

- Penalties (1 point/day) will be applied per day of delay.

- Students will only obtain approval if they score a minimum value of 8 on the Exam.

- The influence of technological evolution and socio-economic changes
- What is the level of preparation of organizations for digital transformation
- Introduction to Services, PSS Systems and new business models

LU2: Business and digital transformation methodologies and applications
- Why, What and How for digital and business transformation. Because many projects fail.
- What methodologies exist for complex and global transformational projects. BTEP and E SAT examples
- Introduction to the methodology BTM² (Methodology of business transformation management) - Management and enablement disciplines
- Potential causes for failures in a Project, for each methodology discipline

LU3: The Process of Creating Value by Organizational Capabilities and Human Capital
- Value creation and business performance evaluation models
- Influence of human capital and digital skills management in value creation
