Opportunity Identification
Objectives
The aim of this course is to equip students with the broad range of skills and perspectives required to pursue a career in
entrepreneurship or to apply entrepreneurship thinking processes to their career.
A.Knowledge and Understanding:
•Development of a holistic understanding of a new business ideation and the steps to consolidate it;
•Understanding of the sources of new business ideas and opportunities
•Understanding of the behavioural, strategic, managerial and organizational challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
B.Subject-Specific Skills:
•Selection of a business idea in accordance with its potential and the abilities of the entrepreneurial team;
•Developing the design of a business model for a new venture;
•Presentation/Pitch of the complete start-up design
C.General Skills:

Teaching method
The course will be delivered in 6 sessions, balanced between lectures, case study discussions and group work. Students
will be expected to work (in groups) on a business idea, delivering a final business pitch in the last session.
Evaluation method
ASSESSMENT
Final grade will be based on both individual and group work. All the components are mandatory, and students must obtain a
minimum grade of 9,5/20 in each one of them to succeed:
1. Group assignment- Business Idea (70%)
Final group assignment grade will be calculated according the following formula:
* 40% on the Business Plan.
* 40% on the Pitch Presentation.
* 20% on Peer Evaluation (each member of the group will be asked to evaluate the contribution of the other members – this
will be confidential)
2. Individual Essay (30%)
Students are expected to hand in a 2000 word essay on Creative and Innovation thinking processes.
Subject matter
The course will cover the core aspects of entrepreneurial thinking whilst working with student teams on their group
projects. This means that session content will be adjusted to student progress
Overall, the course will be divided into three broad topics:
1.Pain points and potential solutions
2.Ideation and the initial ideas
3.From ideas to business model
4.Scaling the model to a business
