Oral and Written Communication in Science

Objectives

This Course Unit aims to provide an advanced training in the methodological domain of Oral and Written Communication in Science. More specifically:

• Develop oral discursive technics of communication in science;

• Know the context of scientific terms, writing scientific articles and theses;

• Deepen the acquisition of knowledge in the development of publication of articles in journals with an impact factor;

• Promote national and international publication of the knowledge produced;

• Acquire skills in developing self-criticism in the production of scientific knowledge.

Teaching method

Presentation of concepts with exemplification of writing planning and submission of scientific article, research project and presentation at an international conference.

Monitoring of students in a model centered by itself and that allows to achieve the proposed objectives.

Research, information collection and analysis of knowledge synthesis to be included in the scientific component of a research project, scientific article or oral communication.

Development of logical reasoning and critical thinking in guiding international publications in journals with an impact factor.

Application of acquired concepts and self-criticism of the work produced.

 

Evaluation method

The final evaluation of the Curricular Unit will be carried out through writing and work proposal, oral communication or scientific component of a research project.

 

Subject matter

Organization and planning of presentation at an international scientific conference.

Adequacy and submission of papers at international conferences.

Advanced theoretical orientations on discursive practices in science.

Understanding of the writing process and submission of a scientific article in a journal with an impact factor.

Criteria for evaluating quality and evaluating journals.

Writing of the scientific component of a research project: problematization, state of the art, methodological component, scientific referencing.

Development of self-criticism components in relation to the knowledge produced.
