Teaching method
Theoretical exposition by the teacher, discussion of specific topics in class, and collection and research of material by the students. Tutorial monitoring of students' practical projects. A final performance of the themes (all students).
Evaluation method
Assessment - Elaboration of arrangements of a musical theme according to the instrumentalists of the class (individual).(40%), Preparation and discussion of an individual activity report on the process developed throughout the semester.(20%), Recording and production of the maquette of the elaborated arrangements (groups of 2 students).(40%)
Subject matter
1. Elaboration of arrangements and orchestrations of traditional songs.
2. Song repertoire: melodies, chords, and lyrics.
3. Technical rudiments of musical instruments: tuning and experimentation.
4. Instrument construction and sound production with ordinary materials.
5. Characteristics of sound: frequency, amplitude, and timbre.
6. Microphone characteristics according to directionality and power supply: dynamic and condenser; omnidirectional, cardioid, and super-cardioid.
7. Analog audio signal / digital audio signal: sampling frequency, resolution, and the number of channels.
8. Fundamental sound editing practices.
8.1. Computer tools for sequencing, recording, editing, and notation.
8.2. Panning and volume level.
8.3 Equalization: graphic equalizers and parametric.
8.4 Effects: delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, phase;
8.5 Audio editing and MIDI.
