Teaching method

Presentations on different topics (francophone literatures,language(s), identity,
multiculturalism, postcolonial studies)
Discussion of presented papers.
Tutorial guidance, focused on preparing and carrying out a research essay.
Evaluation of knowledge implies being present for 2/3 of the sessions held as
well as the submission of a research essay which should show knowledge of
the issues covered as well as the ability to deal in a critical manner with the
concepts covered in the course.

Evaluation method

Método de Avaliação - Class participation(10%), Oral examination of the essay(20%), Research essay(70%)

Subject matter

This course aims analyze contemporary literary texts from French-speaking
countries, focusing on concepts of identity/identities and multiculturalism. From
a transdisciplinar standpoint, the literary approach is jointed with some
postcolonial studies, considering literary texts as a source of new cultures.
