Digital Cartography and Design

Objectives

a) Develop practices and procedures of acquiring information and cartographic design in multidisciplinary context;
b) Deepen knowledge of graphic semiology;
c) Assess, scientifically and technically, information structures in a perspective of sustainable land management;
d) Apply the design as a methodology for the conceptualization of cartography;
e) Develop skills for autonomous learning of mapping and GIS software;
f) Conceptualize solutions for representing multi-scale analysis using the software for computer aided design and geographic information systems;
g) Develop critical skills in the selection, acquisition and cartographic editing for different audiences.

Teaching method

Teaching methods are based on theoretical/practical classes where emphasis is placed on conceptual explanation and analysis of practical cases.
Regarding the evaluation, this includes:
- Project work accompanied by teachers, based on the resolution of practical cases, where the application of concepts, methods and techniques of cartography is carried out, either in analogue or digital environment.

Evaluation method

Evaluation Methodologies - - Project work accompanied by teachers, based on the resolution of practical cases, where the application of concepts, methods and techniques of cartography is carried out, either in analogue or digital environment. Elaboration of a final layout with map analysis, legend and descriptive memory(90%), The project must be presented orally (10%). These ratings percentages may be subject to change due to Contingency Plans caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.(10%)
