Mediation and Pedagogy at Museums
Objectives
To master a theoretical and practical approach to contemporary curatorial and pedagogical concepts and experiences in museums, art centers and unconventional spaces; to know, develop and use concrete tools and strategies that allow for informed and problematic practice and proper communication with a wide range of audiences.

Teaching method
Theoretical-practical classes, with programmatic contents synthesized in power point presentations and in the critical analysis of texts of the bibliography.
The practical classes will focus on the development of projects based on the research, diagnosis and planning of its various phases, including communication.
Evaluation method
Evaluation method - 1. Participation in seminar sessions, contributing to the deepening of the topics under study(30%), Individual work which may consist of 2.1. Program proposal / educational project, with complete plan; 2.2. Diagnostic report of an educational program / activity in Portugal, contextualizing it in the host institution program; 2.3. Approach to any of the topics proposed in the course of the UC, in the form of a scientific article; 2.4. Critical approach to debate held in April 2018 at FASVS (70%)
Subject matter
Paradigm shifts and contemporary issues; Does the educational function of the museum still make sense? Who are the audiences? Experiences, learning and mediation processes; Criteria, program lines, guiding axes for drawing programming; educational activities and programs: - formats and typologies, rhythms and profiles; Contexts, principles, typologies of thinking and acting - empowerment, and ownership; access, inclusion and diversity.
