Instrumentation and Electrical Measurement

Objectives

Students must acquire the knowledge of the composition, functioning, properties and limitations of the measurement apparatus used in Electrothecnics. Students will become able of executing measurement operations without jeopardizing people and equipments, and without introducing gross errors, and will become able to estimate, limit or correct measurement errors.  Students must acquire the capacity of writing a complete, concise and precise technical-scientific report.

Teaching method

The matter is taught in theoretical-practical classes, with the support of projected images and schematics. Additional practical classes are done, where the students execute laboratorial works. The students are evaluated by their theoretical knowledge and their practical knowledge from the laboratory classes.

Evaluation method

The evaluation method could be one of the following:

Option A - 2 Tests (MT1 and MT2) + 1 Laboratoty Work (TL)

Theoretical Component (CT) = (0.40*MT1 + 0.60*MT2) >= 9.5 val.

Laboratory Component (CL) = 1*TL >= 9.5 val.

Final Classification = 0.70*CT + 0.30*CL >= 9.5 val.

Option B - 1 Final Exam (EF) + 1 Laboratoty Work (TL)

Theoretical Component (CT) = l*EF  >= 9.5 val.

Laboratory Component (CL) = 1*TL >= 9.5 val.

Final Classification = 0.75*CT + 0.25*CL >= 9.5 val.

In both cases, to be approved, student must have a Final Classification equal or greater then 9.5 values (in a 0 to 20 scale).
