Teaching method

Theoretical classes- learning via classroom platform, with presentation of powerpoint with or without voice recording, and videos illustrating the subject.

Practice classes - laboratory restricted to a maximum of 2 students per laboratory, reducing the number of presential classes. Classes via classroom with problem solving, presentation of video experiments, and preparation of a written document on film production techniques and coatings.

Evaluation method

1- Theoretical (40%)
-Continuous evaluation, questionnaires in class
-Exam

Practice 2 (60%)
-Laboratory (video or in lab)
Report (4 elements); 5 pages: introduction, description of an experiment based on the video presented, expected results, and expected conclusions.

-Final project of the semester

Subject matter

The aim of this course is to give the theoretical and practical technologies of coatings and thin films currently used. Will be given  an introduction on the classification and type of technology requirements to be followed by the following technologies: sputtering (dc and rf), chemical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition assisted by rf; thermal evaporation and sol-gel spray pyrolysis, laser assisted deposition. Examples of different types of coatings will be given. The program concludes with the characterization techniques used for caracterize structure, composition and physical properties.
