Research Rotation II
Objectives
Following the work developed in Research Rotation I curricular unit, the aim is to provide to the students a direct contact with researchers and other team members of the laboratories involved in the program
It is intended that the students develop a critical approach and deepen and increase the scientific knowledge on topics in different research areas and get also acquainted with different methodologies used in laboratorial practices.
It is expected that these internships help the students to enlarge the scientific knowledge and also to apply it in the research topics that will be developed in their PhD studies.

Teaching method
In advance it will be provided a list of laboratories available for the implementation of the course. There will be a ranking respecting the desired options for students. In laboratory work the students will be supervised by professors of doctoral program and / or by researchers from the laboratories involved.
Evaluation method
There will be a continuous evaluation system based on the students’ performance and attitude in the lab, the knowledge acquired during the laboratory rotations. At the end of the semester there will be a report of the overall activity and a public presentation of their work.
Subject matter
In this curricular unit, students will stay for short periods (45 h per laboratory rotation), in research laboratories afiliated to the doctoral program. These rotations will allow students to contact directly with the dynamics of research and researchers. During these periods, they will be encouraged to exchange ideas and discuss concepts, participate proactively in meetings and seminars, read and comment scientific papers, think on new experimental approaches, and learn how to use different equipments. In order to achieve the objectives of the projects, throughout the 3 rotations, students will have to plan and carry out experimental work.
