Objectives

At the end of this curricular unit, students should be able to:
1. Critically analyze the global burden of disease and its determinants from the perspective of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development;
2. Identify potential interventions to address health determinants and enhance their salutogenic impact;
3. Understand the complexity of the concepts associated with the causality of disease and the determination of health and understand the theoretical advances observed in recent years from the perspectives of global health, “one health” and planetary health;
4. Understand the differences between health determinants and social health determinants and their relevance in the fight against health inequalities;
5. Understand how to measure and monitor the global burden of disease and its determinants from the perspective of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development;
6. Understand the determinants of health in each of the CPLP MS.

Seminars, theoretical-practical classes, group work and tutorial guidance.

Presentation of topics (60%)
– Presentation that deepens and clarifies the topic.
– Critical questioning on the topic.
– Based on literature and personal experiences.
– Alignment with general UC and DSI OAs.
– Fulfillment of the allotted time.
– Ability to mobilize colleagues and teacher for discussion.
• Comment, debate and discussion, with teacher and colleagues (40%)
– Discussion that deepens and clarifies the presentation and comments.

– Based on literature and personal experiences.
– Alignment with general and DSI OAs.
– Fulfillment of the allotted time.

Students who are unable to actively participate in the learning sessions will be given a 3-hour written exam with short-answer questions.
