Translational Research
Objectives
This module has as its main objective to transmit concepts related to the translation of research aiming at: 1. Assess how research can influence local and / or global policy and practice and what are the main barriers to translating research. 2. Discuss concepts related to the dissemination and implementation of scientific results. 3. Discuss how to write a scientific project: project design, basic research, and product development. 4. Discuss the main methods of translational research and their adaptation to different situations. 5. Identify key stakeholders at the community level and responsible for health programs. 6. Discuss the suitability of translational models for projects.

Teaching method
The methodology used will be based on theoretical classes that include exposure of contents (T) and seminars and in the preparation (delivery of a written document), presentation and discussion of a project on the application of translational research to the development of vaccines or translational research methods. The development of individual or group work will be monitored through tutorial support.
Evaluation method
The assessment of learning will take into account the level of success obtained in the realization, presentation and discussion of a work. Students with a rating equal to or greater than 10 will be approved on a scale of 0-20. The presentation and discussion of the work or project is mandatory. Performance in the T (20%), project (40%) and discussion (40%).
Subject matter
The tools available in translational research will be discussed. Against the background of some diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS, biomedical concepts and support measures developed in different regions of the world will be discussed. Its causes will be analyzed from a biological point of view in parallel with public health interventions for their control. Migration of emerging populations and diseases will be analyzed in the light of translational research in case studies. Discussion of translational research projects.
