Learning Organizations and People Management
Objectives
Mindful of the VUCA (volatile, uncertain,
complex, ambiguous) world in which organizations operate, where learning
capacity is key to success, the objective of this course is to equip students
with knowledge about accelerated forms of learning associated with
organizational transformation. In detail students will become aware of the
forms and sources of learning in organizations and how these influence
attitudes and mindset. As a result, students will be competent at shaping the
future of organizations.

Teaching method
This unit builds upon the principles of active
learning requiring students to engage in a learning experience. Through
engaging in a quasi-real experience of transforming their organizations,
students will learn by doing.
Evaluation method
The assessment of this curricular unit is done
together with the block of curricular units of the same area of knowledge. This
assessment has 3 moments, which together define the final grade of the
curricular unit:
• Individual exam with a weighting of 50% of the total mark
• Group work with a weighting of 35% of the total grade value
• Individual reflection-action exercise carried out at the end of the
curricular unit, with a weighting of 15% of the total grade value. The set of
individual action-reflection exercises is a journaling activity, which will
constitute, at the end, a learning portfolio capable of synthesising the
contributions of the Executive Master for that student.
Subject matter
The syllabus follows the logic of a personal
experience that is intertwined with the learning journey of the organization.
Understanding these two learning journeys (individual and corporate) is key to
for preparing an organization towards the future. As a consequence the syllabus
focuses on:
• Principles of organizational learning,
• Accelerated forms of organizational learning,
• Implementing organizational learning initiatives,
• Measuring the impact and communicating organizational learning.
