Subject matter
PROGRAMM
This program focuses on modern and contemporary artistic practices, analyzing, in particular, the aspects that intersect with the notion and culture of communication. In general, it can be said that the art of the last hundred years is transversally marked by this relationship, whether through the intertwining of art with the analogue and digital media of image, sound and audiovisual or through a fundamental tension between artistic culture and media culture or between art and the cultural industry. The sharing between communication and art, not only of media practices and technologies but also of other crucial dimensions, such as language and meaning, as well as sensitive experience is the broad issue this course approaches. This issue has been reflected throughout modern and contemporary culture through various themes and debates: the theme of the aesthetical communicability of art, the idea of art as language, the debate around the notion of media and new media arts, but also the question of the tension between art and communication or even the incommunicability of art, which have marked the modern and contemporary cultural discourse.
