News and Interview Laboratory

Objectives

a) To recognize what is news, mobilizing news values; to capture the most important information; select and rank the information; to structure and link information in a coherent way;
b) To be able to proceed with the collection, verification and selection of information, through the contact with news sources; identify and propose original approaches to the issues; and tell "stories", with quality of publication in a national, regional or specialized media organization;
b) To be able to plan and conduct interviews, either as a process of gathering information that supports other journalistic genres, or as an individualized journalistic genre, with quality of publication;
d) To be able to adapt news and interviews as journalistic genres to different platforms: written press, radio, television and multimedia, focusing, in particular, in the writing skills for digital journalism.

Continuous Assessment - A developed news piece with field work and contacts with information sources, with quality for publication (25%), An interview, with quality for publication (35%), Practical exercises (news) done in class (40%)
