1. Acquire an adequate perception of Portuguese Culture in the context of the Renaissance, as a common basis for all manifestations of knowledge.

2. Develop critical reading skills, comment and argumentation;

  2. Humanism and Renaissance. Main personalities, works and dominant ideas in the European context;
  3. Specificities of Portuguese Humanism and Renaissance. The voyages of discovery as determining factors for the construction of a national identity;
  4. The leading scientists, artists and other Renaissance personalities;
  5. Social life in Portugal during the Renaissance, based on the testimonies of writers and chroniclers;
  6. Camões' work as a synthesis of the Portuguese Renaissance, precursor of new times;
  7. Today's Views of the Renaissance in Portugal.
