Digital Technologies for Heritage Analysis

Objectives

  1. Know, understand and evaluate the main methodologies of digital heritage documentation and analysis,
  2. Know when to use certain digital tools and methodologies and integrate them with the other methods of registration and interpretation,
  3. Know the main methods and experts in the field of digital heritage recording, historically contextualized,
  4. Develop skills to document mobile and immovable heritage using digital methods and techniques, including digital photography, photogrammetric documentation, spatial data collection and analysis.

Teaching method

In class teaching, through lectures accompanied by audiovisual information, and practical classes of analysis of case studies and application of theory to real contexts and practical exercises. Analysis of national and international case studies, and its discussion in group. The practical classes will introduce various equipment and software for image processing and manipulation, photogrammetry and GIS, with emphasis on open-source software. Application of the learning outcomes in project work.
