Sociology of Culture
Objectives
a)To know and understand different sociological notions of culture;
b)To develop the ability of reflection about problems related with the cultural sphere (both narrow and broadly speaking);
c)To know the perspectives and theoretical problems that arise from a multidimensional analysis of the cultural sphere, thus confirming the complexity of cultural practices and phenomena analyzed;
d)To develop the ability to equate, research and describe diversified aspects of social phenomena, by using different acceptations of the concept of culture.

Teaching method
Theoretical lectures (40%);
Practical classwork (60%): analysis and discussion of various supporting materials; resolution of proposed practical tasks; oral presentation and discussion of the work carried out.
Evaluation method
Evaluation method:
a) Individual written test, in class (55%);
b) Written essay - prepared in group, based on suggested topics (35%). This essay must be presented and discussed orally in class; the resulting classification will combine the written essay with the oral presentation.The non-presentation and oral discussion of the written essay in class implies a penalty of half (50%) in the weighting of the classification of this evaluation element;
c) Participation in the practical lessons by carrying out the proposed tasks (excluding the essay oral presentation) (10%). Students with Student Worker Status may opt for evaluation without weighting the practical classes, in this case, the individual written test will correspond to 65% of the final grade.
