Teaching method
Face-to-face teaching. Classes are divided into theoretical exposition sessions and practical sessions. In the theoretical sessions the main concepts and theories in the field of sociology of migrations will be exposed, considering its analytical operationalization in different domains and thematic approaches of the study of international migrations, being deepened the migrations in Portugal. Complementary references for each class will be indicated in advance, and the individual study of the bibliography will be guided and supported by the frequency of the theoretical classes. The practical sessions promote skills of analytical operationalization and use of statistical indicators on international migrations, working on understanding, discussion and oral and written expression. Some practical classes serve for the monitoring of the work, which will be carried out in group and for the presentation and discussion by the students of their Essays with bibliographic collection and problematization.
Evaluation method
The evaluation of the student's participation in the classes will be continuous, considering the relevance of the interventions and the contribution to the quality of the discussion in class. The evaluation will include:
- face-to-face written test (50%)
- work in group about a relevant topic of research will be worth 50% of the final classification, distributing: 20% for the resolution of group exercises in practical sessions of the classes (5% per exercise), 10% for the public presentation and discussion of the group essay, and 20% for the final Essay (with bibliographic collection, problematization and theoretical discussion, the consultation of data available on the theme of the work, its interpretation and identification of some trends).
