The study of human remains recovered in archaeological and forensic contexts, and those associated with reference collections are major source of knowledge of human evolutionary history, human variability, disease patterns, population migrations and behavior. This course aims to provide students with basic knowledge on how the study of human osteology has contributed to the scientific and political discourse in various disciplinary areas of the social and biological sciences; and how knowledge of human osteology is applied in contexts of past populations, contexts of mass violence and political agendas, and forensic cases.
