Subject matter
The program presents a structured set of fundamental works of world literature particularly suitable, on the one hand, for the construction of a discussion that allows the establishment of relationships and articulations between examples and problems, and on the other for interrogation based on text commentary by some basic concepts of literary theory. In the first part, based on problematic film adaptations, ways of reading tradition, from Joyce to Homer, will be discussed; in the second part, centered on the figure of the narrator, texts by Gogol (Tales of Saint Petersburg), Melville (Bartleby), Henry James (The Turn of the Screw), Joseph Conrad (Heart of Darkness) and Italo Svevo will be commented. (Zeno's Conscience).
