Advanced Criminal Law
Objectives
- Master the subjects of criminal participation and attribution of criminal responsibility to legal entities.
- Master the concepts underlying the criminal offences covered by the syllabus, especially regarding criminal participation.
- Know the relevant doctrine and court cases.
- Develop the ability to examine and solve problems, to acquire competences for the future exercise of legal functions related to the subject.

I. CRIMINAL PARTICIPATION
1. Authorship and causation: extensive and restrictive concepts of authorship
2. Participation. The legal system of articles 26 to 29 of the Criminal Code.
3. Participation in specific crimes and scope of article 28.
II. CRIMINAL LIABILITY OF LEGAL ENTITIES
1. Article 11.º of the Criminal Code and special legislation
2. The acting person and the connecting fact.
3. Is there a specific form of guilt for legal entities?
4. Exemptions from liability in article 11.
5. Mergers and splits of legal entities and transfer of criminal liability.
III. SPECIFIC OFFENSES AND CRIMINAL PARTICIPATION
1. Drug trafficking and participation
2. Money laundering (368-A), telephone tapping (276) and Aid by a civil servant (350)
3. Group criminality: gangs (204), fights (151 and Sports crimes: Law 39/2009), criminal association (299) and riots (302, 303)
4. Criminal participation within legal entities: subsidy fraud (37 of DL 28/84) and active corruption (374)
