Teaching method

Public defense. The defense shall begin with the candidate being given the opportunity to present the essence of the thesis for a period of approximately 7 minutes. Then, the student will have a maximum of 30 minutes of discussion by one of the members of the jury, excluding the supervisor(s), for a maximum period of 30 minutes. The student will then have a period of the same duration to answer the criticisms of the examiner. At the end of the discussion, the jury will meet and will make the final decision.

Evaluation method

The panel of the defense will be composed of three members, appointed by the scientific board, always including the supervisor. In case of joint supervision, both supervisors will integrate the jury, which will have four members. The president shall be the highest ranked member of those who belong to the Faculty staff; if they are of equal rank, the oldest member shall act as president. The president shall have the casting vote.

Subject matter

The student chooses a topic to investigate, in consultation with the supervisor. The resulting thesis will identify a gap in the literature and propose how to fill it; to this end, the student will take into account the relevant (national and, where appropriate, foreign, EU and international) legal and policy materials, including academic literature.

The supervisor or supervisors should effectively guide the research, keeping regular contact with the student so as to promote the progress of the work and the quality of the results. The work may not exceed 200,000 characters of text, including notes and spaces, and may contain a maximum of 25 pages of maps, graphs, images, etc.
