Infectious diseases

Objectives

We expect students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge, using a clinical approach, in infectious diseases, especially emerging and neglected diseases:
1. General aspects of infectious diseases, including epidemiology, biology and life cycles of pathogens.
2. Genetics, immune response, pathophysiology, and their relation with the clinical manifestations.
3. Clinical and laboratory diagnosis, with emphasis on molecular techniques.
4. Prophylaxis, treatment and control.
5. Applied research to the clinics and control.
