Financial Management
Objectives
The course intends to give management students the analytical tools to make sound financial decisions. Managing a company implies making investment, financing and payout decisions and each of these decisions will have impact on the enterprise value. Therefore, students should be familiar with the practical and theoretical frameworks that support the proper financial analysis of management decisions.

Teaching method
The course will be taught with a blended method. Every week there will be lectures presented by video with the introduction to each topic by presenting the main concepts, definitions and theory. Then, there will be one weekly lecture for discussion of those concepts as well as practicing the technical tools that are presented throughout the course. All these lectures will be complemented with additional resources and tasks, based on practical exercises, case-studies and readings.

Subject matter
The course starts by exploring financial statements and respective analysis to get an introduction to the basic financial information. Then, it proceeds to the analysis of investment decisions by exploring financial modelling and analysis applied to projects and companies. Finally, the course explores the financing decision by covering the different financing options, their characteristics and their implication for both the investors and the company as a whole.
