Teaching method

This course will be a mixture between theory and practice, strongly supported by case studies. Nevertheless, the course will follow a dynamics based on personal effort and team participation. Participants play an active role in the development of their abilities and team work capabilities.The practical cases will be given to the students in advance. Participation and case studies will be complemented by a group project & presentation according to the acquired knowledge during the course. 


Evaluation method

The students evaluation will be based on active class participation including case studies (20%), group presentations including the "Development Negotiation Project" (40%), being relevant the structure and creativity of the presentations as well as the ability to argue. debate and negotiate; and a final exam (40%). There will be one (1) group presentations besides the "Development Negotiation Project". 


Subject matter

The course will address general hotel development strategies as well as specific development business models like management agreements, lease agreements, and hotel franchise agreements. The course will also provide a basic understanding of the day-to-day role of a hotel developer as well as an introduction to hotel investments.
