PhD in Management

Education objectives

The goals of the PhD Program in Management are three-fold: first, to offer a learning experience that is aligned with the best international practices our program is designed to combine the practices of other leading business schools with our specific strengths; second, to develop state-of-the-art research in management sciences. Our PhD candidates are encouraged early on to publish their studies in top-tier journals; third, to stimulate a spirit of open scientific debate, in which different perspectives are confronted and discussed. Our strategy of internationalization contributes to this goal by gathering students from different cultures and scientific backgrounds, and by encouraging our students to present their work in renowned international conferences and spend one semester in another school.
Our learning outcomes are again three-fold: first, our graduates should be able to critically apply theories and methodologies in order to identify and explore key questions, issues, and problems in management and develop meaningful and original research for the discipline and/or context in which it was developed; second, they should become intellectually independent and be able to autonomously develop their own projects within their specific research stream. This should enable them to submit applications, as independent researchers, to national and international funding agencies; third, they should demonstrate mastery of several parallel skills, namely problem solving, information management, collaboration and teamwork, oral and written communication, and other skills that are transferable for a career in higher education and other areas. These learning outcomes are grounded in a strong emphasis on ethical standards in research and management practice.
