Qualitative Methods

Objectives

The subject provides students with an introduction to some key issues in conducting qualitative research. On successful completion of this course students should be able to: 

- Plan a qualitative research project

- Undertake analysis of diverse qualitative research materials

- Be able to theorize using qualitative data

- Know how to write up a thesis using qualitative data

- Be able to analyze data critically

- Being wise about qualitative data

Teaching method

The subject will be delivered through a variety of face-to-face teaching strategies. Lectures will be broken up with short exercises, case studies questions, and student-centered learning.

The course will use materials that students bring to the class and their projected use of these materials will form the  basis for assessment.
