General
NOVA National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) provides post-graduate teaching and research in health related areas, namely in public health and health policy and management.Established in 1966, NOVA NSPH is a pioneer institution in public health education in Portugal and across Europe. The school was incorporated in NOVA in 1994.
With an experienced faculty, NOVA NSPH invests in health promotion and innovation, through a broad network of national and international partnerships. Its goals are:
- To promote a student-oriented teaching/learning process with an integrated, and dynamic vision of health systems and Public Health sciences;
- To promote scientific discovery, knowledge production and innovation practices in Public Health;
- To connect research and teaching with action in Public Health, to establish itself as an effective influence in the emerging knowledge society.
Faculty at NOVA NSPH cover many different disciplines such as Epidemiology and Statistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Promotion, Health Policy, Management of Healthcare Organizations, Health Economics, Sociology of Health and Health Law.
NOVA NSPH annually receives 180 new students for courses with one or more years duration, including doctorates, masters and specializations. Additionally, about 200 other students attend short courses. Master and PhD thesis and other final course dissertations are often published in scientific journals. NOVA NSPH students have diverse educational backgrounds, which include medicine, nursing, pharmacy, health technologies, economics, management, law, psychology and others.
The School provides relevant services to the community, including public and private institutions who seek its faculty and researchers to support the resolution of specific problems of health and health care in Portugal. Several professors and graduates occupy important positions in the health system.
In addition to protocols and agreements established with its peers both nationally and internationally for the development of studies and projects in Public Health, NOVA NSPH is a member of several important associations in the health field.
The School has its own facilities in Lumiar, with adequate resources for the students to develop their studies and learning experience. The National School of Public Health also has easy access by various means of transport.

Admission and enrollment
Enrollment in courses at NOVA NSPH requires submitting an online application, with all applications evaluated by a designated jury.After the selection phase is completed, the admitted candidates, according to a publicly released list, will then proceed with student registration. The application guidelines are published annually on the NOVA NSPH website.
The number of openings, application deadlines, registration, selection schedule, list of admitted candidates, and the deadlines for completing these steps will be posted and advertised through the official channels of NOVA NSPH.
Practical information
Libraries
The Library has two reading rooms with a capacity for 15 users on a free-access basis to all publications for its teaching staff and students, as well as ENSP alumni and the public, following the regulations of the SDI - Documentation and Information Services.The Library's document collection essentially consists of around 17,500 monographs (including grey literature) that are registered in the catalogue and more than 200 titles of scientific and technical periodicals in print. The Library has several full-text databases and access to the Online Knowledge Library (b-on), so its users can access a large number of scientific publications even off campus. Access to works or articles from periodicals not in the Library's collection is possible through interlibrary collaboration at national and international levels. The entire building has wireless Internet access, making it possible to remotely access all digital information sources.

IT resourcesThe National School of Public Health (ENSP NSPH) has a set of rooms with the following characteristics:
- Auditorium with 88 seats, equipped with a VideoConference system to enable Events, Seminars and classes with online participants
- Classrooms equipped with VideoConference systems to enable classes and meetings with online participants.
- Study room equipped with computers.
- Study/meeting rooms for student use.
Interships
Some of the courses offered at NOVA NSPH include internships in their curriculum.In such cases, internships are carried out at institutions (public or private) selected by NOVA NSPH, with which conditions for implementation have been previously agreed upon.
Language courses
The National School of Public Health does not offer language courses.Food services
The National School of Public Health has a cafeteria with a terrace overlooking the garden, with a capacity for roughly 40 people. In addition to pastry products, a variety of light meals are served.Hours:

The National School of Public Health (NOVA NSPH) is equipped with facilities that ensure accessibility to its classrooms and common areas for people with special needs, specifically those with physical disabilities:- Reserved parking spaces for these users

The AEENSP-NOVA - Student Association of the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon, was established by public deed on November 22, 2018.The AEENSP-NOVA aims to highlight the diversity of NOVA NSPH students from various courses, with the goal of valuing and promoting conditions that allow for the achievement of common objectives, particularly in areas such as Educational, Social, and Institutional Policy.
